Seulki Susie Yoo, D.M.A., is dedicated to delivering music with narrative and meaning. Through her lecture-recitals, she invites audiences to engage with music through awareness and diverse perspectives. A central focus of her artistic and scholarly work has been championing Paul Dukas's piano repertoire. Her lecture-recitals on Dukas's Variations, Interlude et Finale sur un thème de Rameau and the composer's identity have been presented at annual conferences of the College Music Society, the Pennsylvania Music Teachers Association, the American Musicological Society (JSMSG), and the Society for Music Theory. Her research on Dukas and French fin-de-siècle culture has also appeared in the College Music Society Symposium.
Her scholarship and performances have received positive critical attention. Of Yoo's publication "Virtuosity and Elegance: Sonata in E-flat Minor by Paul Dukas" (College Music Society Symposium, Vol. 65, No. 2), Diana Shapiro wrote that Yoo "manages to keep the textural layers of the pieces transparent and clear so one can envision the various instruments interacting with each other to create a sonorous stream of sounds." Of Yoo's publication "Rediscovering the Legacy: Le Tombeau de Paul Dukas (1936)" (Vol. 64, No. 2), Shuk-Ki Wong praised her "high level of artistry and comprehensive understanding of diverse musical styles" and her efforts to champion Dukas's legacy as composer, teacher, scholar, and critic.
A winner and finalist of multiple international competitions — including the 17th Brahms International Competition, the 39th Delia Steinberg International Competition, and the World Piano Teachers Association International Competition — Seulki has performed across the globe at venues including Carnegie Weill Recital Hall and Wiener Saal, and has delivered lecture-recitals in academic settings including Harvard University. Yoo currently serves as Lecturer at Penn State University and is Founder and Artistic Director of the Paul Dukas Institute.
