Another wonderful CD by MARCUS PAUS

Marcus Paus (b.1979) is one of the most sought after Norwegian composers of his generation. His catalog includes chamber music, solo works, choral music, concerti and other orchestral works, several operas, and works for stage and screen.
Paus has been performed by leading performers and ensembles worldwide, in venues ranging from Carnegie Hall to Norwegian television, and he has fulfilled more than 40 commissions to date. Paus has held a number of residencies at various festivals, and he served as artistic director of the Oslo Opera Festival in 2010. He has been a member of TACT (The Actors’ Company Theater)’s adjunct company since 2005, composing incidental music for several of their shows.
Paus studied composition at The Norwegian Academy of Music (1998-2002), and at The Manhattan School of Music (2003-2005).
Marcus Paus is a noted representative of a reorientation towards tradition, tonality and melody.
Important works include his Cello Sonata, written for Johannes Martens and Joachim Kwetzinsky, and featured on their album “Marcus Paus” (Aurora 2013), The Stolen Child, written for Ensemble 96 and included on their doubly Grammy nominated album “Kind” (2L 2010), the operas The Witches and The Ash-Lad –by Pål, as well as the score to Sara Johnsen’s film Upperdog (2009; soundtrack released on MTG Classic).
Paus’ works are published by Norsk Musikforlag AS.
